Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a global humanitarian network working to end hunger and malnutrition, and its Nigeria operation is a major front in that mission.
Since establishing programs in the country, ACF Nigeria has delivered lifesaving nutrition, health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security, cash assistance, and emergency response in states hit hardest by conflict and climate shocks, notably Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, and Jigawa.
ACF’s Nigeria teams run integrated interventions, including screening and treating severe acute malnutrition among children under five, strengthening local health systems and maternal care, rehabilitating solar-powered boreholes and latrines to prevent disease transmission, and supporting livelihoods through cash, agricultural support, and vocational training. These combined approaches reduce immediate mortality while helping communities rebuild resilient food systems.
The organisation also prioritises rapid response and preparedness, distributing shelter, hygiene, and non-food kits to displaced households and providing cholera preparedness and mental-health support where needed. ACF’s recent global impact reporting highlights its scale and evidence-driven programming, underscoring technical leadership in nutrition and WASH across humanitarian settings.
Credibility and partnerships are central: ACF Nigeria collaborates with local partners and international donors to reach hundreds of thousands of people monthly, combining emergency relief with longer-term recovery efforts that protect children’s futures and rebuild community dignity.
