Slum2School Africa is a volunteer-driven development organization working to transform the lives of disadvantaged children in underserved communities through access to education, healthcare, and life skills.
Founded by Otto Orondaam in 2012, the initiative has grown into one of Africa’s most impactful social enterprises, directly enrolling thousands of out-of-school children and reaching over 100,000 young people with learning support.
At the core of Slum2School’s mission is the belief that every child, regardless of background, deserves equal access to quality education and opportunities.
In 2024, the organization expanded its Virtual Learning Program, ensuring children in remote and underserved areas could continue learning with digital tools, mentors, and structured curriculum support. This innovation has helped bridge Nigeria’s widening education gap.
Beyond classrooms, Slum2School also provides psychosocial support, mentorship, healthcare access, and vocational training, ensuring that its beneficiaries are equipped not just for school but for life.
Its community-based model harnesses thousands of volunteers who contribute their expertise and resources, making it a true movement of people-driven impact.
As a nominee for Social Enterprise of the Year, Slum2School Africa represents the resilience of collective action and the transformative power of education. By breaking cycles of poverty and inspiring futures, it continues to redefine what social change can look like in Africa.
