As the founder of Interswitch, he conceptualized and built Nigeria’s first online, real-time transaction switching platform in 2002. This innovation, which enabled instant card payments and powered ATMs and POS systems, was a prerequisite for the growth of e-commerce and online content consumption in the country.
Elegbe’s influence is undeniable. Under his leadership, Interswitch has grown into one of Africa’s
most valuable fintech companies, processing billions of transactions annually.
He is a people-centric leader who actively mentors young entrepreneurs and has received numerous accolades for his visionary leadership, including the EY West Africa Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
