Sycamore.NG is a Nigerian fintech startup founded in 2018, headquartered in Ikeja G.R.A., Lagos, with the mission of empowering individuals and businesses through fast, tech-driven financial solutions.
The company began modestly «from our CEO’s bedroom» and has grown into a platform offering loans, savings, investments, and multi-currency wallets for Nigerians and SMEs.
Sycamore has made significant progress: it has disbursed over ₦22 billion in loans, now serves more than 300,000 users, and has raised local debt funding to scale its operations.
One of Sycamore’s major milestones came in 2025 when it secured a fund/portfolio manager licence from the Securities and Exchange Commission (Nigeria) (SEC), enabling it to expand from lending into asset-management and investment-services, including stocks, bonds and multi-currency instruments.
This transition marks its ambition to become a full-service digital finance brand that bridges borrowing, saving and investing under one platform.
Sycamore also stands out for its funding strategy: rather than broad equity raises, it has turned to local-currency debt to grow its loan book while preserving founder equity, a strategy that reflects deep understanding of Nigeria’s economic environment.
The company also earned recognition by winning the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority Prize for Innovation (NPI 2.0) in 2024.
