Salubata – Nominated for Startup of the Year Award at the MOI Award

Salubata is a forward-looking fashion startup that converts plastic waste into modular, customizable footwear using proprietary, carbon-sequestering technology.

Founded in 2020 by Fela Buyi Akinse and Yewande Akinse, the company designs shoes whose soles and uppers can be detached and replaced, reducing waste and prolonging product life.

With headquarters spanning Nigeria, France, and the US, Salubata holds patents for its modular design and carbon-decomposing materials.

It won awards such as IEEE Entrepreneurship Stars Virtual Competition and Kigali Startup Festival’s top spot, and has partnerships with Amazon, Techstars LA, and industry press like Business of Fashion.

As a sustainable fashion pioneer, Salubata addresses environmental crisis while building consumer products that are stylish and eco-conscious.

A portion of sales, 5%, supports empowerment initiatives for children and women in underserved communities. Salubata’s mission blends design, sustainability, and social good with tangible impact.
