Guinness Nigeria Plc – Nominated for Corporate Excellence of the Year at the MOI Awards

Guinness Nigeria Plc began as a trading company on 29 April 1950, importing stout from Dublin. Over time it evolved into full-scale manufacturing, with brewing, packaging, marketing and sales operations in Nigeria.

Its first Nigerian brewery outside Britain and Ireland opened in Lagos in 1962 (with first local brewing of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout in November 1963).

Today, Guinness Nigeria is known as the country’s foremost “total beverage alcohol” company, offering a wide portfolio that spans stouts, lagers, malts, non-alcoholic drinks, ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages and spirits.

Its brands include the iconic Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Guinness Extra Smooth, Malta Guinness, Harp Lager, Dubic Malt, Snapp, Orijin, Smirnoff Ice and others.

The company has a strong local presence in Nigeria, with major breweries and facilities in Lagos, Benin City and Aba.

In 2022 it opened a modern headquarters complex in Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos, signalling confidence in the Nigerian market and its future operations.

Guinness Nigeria has positioned itself not just as a beverage company but as a responsible corporate citizen, emphasising community investment, local manufacturing, and innovation. For example, in 2016 it commissioned a spirits manufacturing line to produce previously imported brands locally, boosting local sourcing and jobs.
