Founded in 2004 and incorporated on 21 July of that year as a Primary Mortgage Institution (PMI), AG Mortgage Bank Plc is headquartered at 96 Opebi Road, Ikeja, Lagos.
The bank was established with a clear mission: to enable Nigerians to own homes through innovative, affordable financing solutions.
Under the leadership of its founders, Dr. Anthony Ewelike and Ngozi Anyogu, and with strategic backing from the Assemblies of God Church, the bank sought to remove barriers to homeownership that many Nigerians faced.
Over the past two decades, AG Mortgage Bank has grown to be a respected name in Nigeria’s housing finance sector.
A standout achievement is the bank’s proactive participation in government-backed schemes. For example, under the M-REIF (Ministry of Finance Real Estate Investment Fund) programme, the bank has disbursed ₦2.8 billion to 97 applicants, becoming the first PMI to do so.
The bank also retains a national licence from Central Bank of Nigeria and has had its rating upgraded to “Bb” by Agusto & Co. thanks to strengthened governance and funding profile.
Beyond financing homes, AG Mortgage Bank is rooted in community development. Its initiatives span financial literacy, youth empowerment, gender-inclusive programmes, and green housing solutions—signalling its role not just as a lender but as a social partner
